Aventus Network Governance Structure Evolution Update

This new proposed evolution to the governance mechanics moves to remove the requirement to stake 100,000 AVT in order to put forward a proposal. Instead, there will be a 100,000 AVT quorum on any vote.

Proposal Overview:

As part of the Aventus Foundation’s mission to completely decentralise the Aventus Network (AvN), a proposal was recently put forward to the AVT community to introduce community proposals, allowing token holders to propose AvN upgrades and changes.

In order to ensure a long term stake in the AvN to see through the implications of the passed proposal, a 100k AVT stake was required on the AvN before submission, which is to be restricted from transfer for one year following a submitted proposal that was approved by vote.

This proposal passed; however, following feedback from members of the AVT community, Aventus Network Founder Alan Vey has decided to propose a further amendment to the staking requirements for putting forward a proposal on the Aventus Network.

How it Works:

This new proposed evolution to the governance mechanics moves to remove the requirement to stake 100,000 AVT in order to put forward a proposal. Instead, there will be a 100,000 AVT quorum on any vote (meaning that a vote must have a minimum of 100,000 AVT voting on it in order for the results to be valid).

Expected Benefits to Aventus Network and the AVT Community:

Removing the requirement to stake AVT aims to reduce barriers to entry for submitting governance proposals, enabling a democratic and inclusive approach.

Requiring a 100,000 AVT quorum on votes aims to ensure decisions are truly democratic and reflective of many voices within the AVT community.

How to Vote:

There are two ways to vote on this proposal. You can either vote on our Ethereum-compatible governance platform or vote on an Aventus-compatible governance platform. The platform you vote on depends on where your AVT is at the start of this vote.

In order to vote on a proposal, you must have been holding or staking at least 1 AVT token at the time that the proposal was published. This means that if you attempt to vote on a proposal where the block number configured is in the past, and you were not holding or staking the required token back then, your vote will not be counted.

Please note that if you have staked all of your AVT on the Aventus Mainnet, you can still vote by using the Aventus-compatible governance platform.

To vote (on the Aventus-compatible platform):

• Go to https://voting.aventus.io/ on a computer.
• Ensure you have the PolkadotJS browser extension installed on your browser.
• Click on “Connect Your Polkadot Wallet”
• Once your wallet is connected, click on the proposal you want to vote on.
• Choose the option you want to vote for.
• Sign the voting message.

Vote weight:

• 1 vote per AVT

To vote (on Snapshot):

• Go to https://voting.mainnet.aventus.network
• Click on the “Connect wallet” button in the top right corner. You can vote using any of the five compatible wallets supported by the platform.
• Connect with the wallet provider that you used to stake your AVT or where you hold your AVT.
• Click on this proposal to vote on it.
• Choose the option you want to vote for.
• Sign the message via your wallet.

Vote weight:

• 1 vote per AVT
