A Tough Training Day at 9000 feet

So the story of today goes… I tried to get over the Power-lines Climb which is in the Tahoe 200 race route at about 170 miles, only to find it blocked by marshland and tree debris about 1.5 km up the climb.
I then proceeded to try and summit Relay Peak on Mt Rose, which i did successfully, but just could not get passed the snow on the North side going onto and down toward Mt Rose summit highway where i was hoping to take a leisurely jog back to incline Village where we stay.
With just about 5 km to go to the road I had to make the tough call to turn back and go the way I came. This led to another 3 hours home! Those that follow me on Strava will see the confusion and attempts to get through the snow and try and navigate around it using the GPS, but alas to no avail.
All in all as tough as it was it really was a great altitude training day, I was up at around 9000 feet for just close to 3 or the 7 hours today.
I will admit though that after 32 km and 6h50 of the mountains I had a 3 hour sneaky afternoon sleep in which I know every Tour de France rider wanted my body… I was making Red Blood Cells like it was going out of Fashion! ;-)
Till Thursday! Enjoy Your Run and Be Safe!
