How Big Can Black Holes Grow?

Nearly every large galaxy hosts a supermassive black hole at its centre. The one at the heart of the Milky Way, for instance, if four million times the mass of our Sun. But despite the name “supermassive”, there are black holes out there over a thousand times bigger.

So, how big can black holes get?
