Aversafe and the International Alumni Job Network (IAJN) are forging ahead with a strategic partnership to provide blockchain backed credential verification services to the world’s leading job network for international students and alumni.

The International Alumni Job Network represents more than 250,000 members from 20 countries across Asia. IAJN is the first organization to focus on fostering career outcomes and community building for international students returning from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom and the USA — an educational sector valued at more than 100 Billion USD per year.

The partnership promises to provide IAJN members with an opportunity to create universally recognized and instantly verifiable digital credentials backed by cutting-edge blockchain technology. IAJN will integrate Aversafe’s trusted signing services directly into the job board’s application interfaces, allowing IAJN members to establish verified credentials and build trust with potential employers long before the first interview.

The State of the Industry

The past two decades have witnessed a meteoric rise in the number of international diploma mills, with conservative estimates suggesting that there are now over 3,000 unaccredited universities issuing fraudulent degrees worldwide. On top of the surge in fraudulent credentials muddying up the job market, more students and alumni jobseekers than ever before are seeking educational and professional opportunities outside of their home countries. These two concurrent trends have left employers bogged down in costly background checks and jurisdictional red tape associated with storing and exchanging student data across borders.

Meanwhile, universities and other certificate issuers have grappled with ways to improve graduate mobility while cutting down on the manual effort and costs involved in re-verifying historic claims. Unfortunately, digital diplomas have failed to gain international traction as past attempts have been stymied by poor institutional coordination and a lack of professional resources. This is where Aversafe enters the picture.

Aversafe provides a network-based solution to credential fraud, delivering decentralized credential issuance and verification services to jobseekers, employers and educational institutions around the world. Aversafe’s services eliminate the need for duplicative background checks while incentivizing participants to pre-certify their credentials, leading to improved trust, lower costs, faster hiring and more efficient capital use for everyone on the network. We’ve leveraged the transparency and immutability of the blockchain to generate value for credential issuers, jobseekers and employers while providing a first-line-of-defense against credential fraud.

“We’re thrilled to have a strong partner in IAJN who not only recognizes the problems facing credential verification, but who proactively wants to engineer a working solution” says Andrew Duck, Aversafe CEO.
