Iran Temporarily Bans ATR Aircraft After Recent Crash

The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran has temporarily banned ATR aircraft after the recent crash of ATR 72 that killed 65 people.

As per the statement released by the organization, the ban has been put into effect to examine the safety of operational ATR fleet in Iran.

Iran Aseman Airlines currently operates ATR 72–200 and ATR 72–500 aircraft.

Air New Zealand’s Next Long-Haul Aircraft — Boeing or Airbus?

Air New Zealand will replace its 8 Boeing 777–200ERs beginning from 2022 and is now evaluating its options for next long-haul aircraft.

Air New Zealand’s CEO Christopher Luxon said that the airline is in the middle of requesting information from aircraft ,manufacturers.

Although, Airbus A350–900 and Boeing 777–8 would have been the likely replacement for 777–200ERs, Air New Zealand might consider A350–1000s and Boeing 777X as well, depending on its new route selections.

Hawaiian Airlines Scales Back Summer Schedule Because Airbus A321neo Delivery Delays

Hawaiian Airlines has either deferred or cancelled many summer flight schedules because of delays in expected deliveries of Airbus A321neo aircraft. The fixes required for Pratt & Whitney engines on A321neo is the reason for delays in deliveries.

As a result, the airline has cancelled additional summer flight between San Francisco-Honolulu, and Oakland-Koana.

Hawaiian Airlines has also deferred the launch of new flight between Oakland and Lihue from April 11 to July 15.

UK resists GKN Takeover Bid

Melrose Industries showed interest to acquire GKN for $10.4 billion. However, UK defense secretary has raised concerns over this bid, citing national security concerns.

GKN is a British automotive and aerospace company and also a major component supplier for Royal Air Force’s (RAF) Eurofighter Typhoon and Airbus A400M military transport aircraft.

Besides, national security concerns, Melrose’s proposal to split up GKN is another major reason for this opposition. Some politicians have said that the proposal to split GKN is a threat to UK’s industrial base.
