What’s up with China and viruses?

During January 2020, a video of Chinese influencer Wang Mengyun using chopsticks to eat a fruit bat went viral. This came at a time when news of coronavirus, believed to have originated from bats in Wuhan, China, and its effects began circulating worldwide. Mengyun was met with much criticism and outrage, which prompted her to both apologize for this video and elaborate on its origin.
