Chip:
Welcome, Everyone! Avocado × BlockLords starts now!🥑

Today we will be joined by @darleywoods, and Chip will be the host for today. Yep, that’s me again.🐧

The chat is closed now, so don’t be afraid if you can’t send messages. Chat will be re-opened straight after AMA is over.

During the AMA, we will have a little giveaway break. If you are quick enough, you will have a chance to win some $BUSD Token, so stick around.

Lazlo:
Hello all😊

Chip:
Welcome again, Lazlo, to the @Avocadians family. Let’s start by hearing a bit about yourself. What’s your background, and what do you do now at BlockLords?

Lazlo:
Sure thing, came into the crypto space as an Axie manager myself

I am now acting as Head of Community at Blocklords, where I’m helping to onboard new players into our game and explain why we’re poised to change the crypto gaming space at large.

Chip:
That’s awesome! BlockLords must be very lucky to have you join the team and your previous experience as Axie manager will surely help to scale BlockLords forwards in terms of community managing.

Let’s proceed to BlockLords. Well, what does BlockLords mean?

How did the team come up with this name, and is there any meaning attached?👀

Lazlo:
Sure thing.

So our founder David Johansson has a long background (15+ years) in the gaming industry, creating a lot of different successful titles in the past, especially strategy and resource management titles — Liberators being one.

He began creating crypto games a few years ago and founded the original Blocklords title, but the market was a bit immature for that so he ended up founding Seascape network a crypto gaming platform for launching NFT solutions, audits, etc. (and also launched a variety of other crypto games).

Chip:
Oh, I didn’t know David founded seascape! It has generated so much hype with its initial launch.

I even bought some of the NFTs myself!

Lazlo:
As a fan of medieval and strategy games, Blocklords is designed to be the world’s most-loved medieval multiplayer strategy game. Allowing you to take control of a medieval hero, raise civilized communities, build and lead armies on the battlefield as you forge your path towards victory. Your way.

Chip:
That’s good to know!

Tbh the first thing that came to my mind when I saw BlockLords is that I thought maybe the team was paying tribute to Satoshi Nakamoto as well; you know, Block comes from Blockchain, and B stands for Bitcoin which is the lord of all altcoins.

Maybe I overthink🤣

Haha, anyway, I was browsing through BlockLords Twitter yesterday and saw this tweet.

And I was wondering if Lazlo, you can explain what Play-To-Own is? Like how does it work and what’s its difference from Play-To-Earn?👀

As we already know something like what more generic and viral #Play2Earn, or the recently super-popular #Move2Earn concept which was brought to storm thanks to STEPN, Play-To-Own is somewhat a new concept, and I believe our Avocadians here might also be wondering about the same thing🥑

Lazlo:
Great question, I actually just wrote an announcement on our Discord about this yesterday, can put that in here.

Chip:
That would be great!

Lazlo:
Blocklords is focusing heavily on a game-first, player-first experience — evident from the level of detail from our in-engine gameplay screenshots, & the amount of capital raised from key investors (which is being poured directly into development efforts). Here’s why this positions us well to take on the gaming space at large.

As a result of our ambitious game and strategic investors, we are aiming to help onboard the next wave of traditional gamers by delivering an experience that is overall fun. Thus, we are moving away from the hardcore ethos of “Play-to-Earn” that is still being pushed by many crypto games today, and are instead pushing for “Play-to-Own”. NFTs will certainly be a core aspect of our gameplay — where all of the playable characters in the medieval universe will be represented as non-fungible tokens who can experience fantastical mechanics like death & creating new family dynasties. Because of this, the crypto-layer will provide an open economy for players to not only own their assets but also profit IF they’re able to spend their in-game time effectively and increase the value of their NFT characters.

By shifting our priority and public language towards this fun and game-first experience, we are making sure to attract a player base who can immerse themselves in a game AND extract value depending on the skill and effort that they put in, and not just a player base that leaves as soon as their expectations of becoming millionaires are not met.

This approach is the key to ensuring that the Blocklords franchise can onboard traditional players AND stand the test of time to be properly enjoyed by people 5, 10, 15+ years from now.

Play-to-own also allows us to focus more on players being able to own all of their items instead of just earning…..of course if you level up your knight to a high level, or are skilled/lucky enough to obtain a sword with good attributes, your NFT asset will be more valuable.

But it’s the ownership part of the asset that is what makes crypto in the game important

Hope you guys brought your reading glasses

Chip:
That’s a lot to read, but it’s super exciting info!

I love how BlockLords are trying to break the barrier between GameFi and Non-GameFi and the implications that this can bring to traditional gaming🔥

Speaking of which, @Avocadians , if you’re eager to know BlockLords’ first-hand news, here’s their socials link aggregator: https://linktr.ee/blocklords

Can’t agree more on this.

Ownership is what differentiates between web 2 and web 3 gaming, where all web 2 data are stored on a centralized server

Meanwhile, web 3 data is stored on a permissionless, trustless and decentralized blockchain

Lazlo:
Play-to-earn has made much focus solely on earning money, and while this is of course amazing and we want to be able to bring this to everyone, it has made many forget the real reason we are all gamers in the first place: fun.

This is why I’m so excited to help bring Blocklords to the masses!

Chip:
Love it!

Okay, without further ado, let’s jump straight to the question asked by our @Avocadians!

The first question is from @A.G | ✨GL✨ | Atom. What are the successful events that have occurred thus far that have helped enormously in the development of this incredible game “Blocklords”?

Lazlo:
The biggest one is just having David onboard. The success he’s had in the past through building successful projects in both traditional gaming and crypto gaming is what has carried us to this point today.

After that, David founding Seascape was paramount to helping us build out the NFT solutions and tooling that Blocklords will utilize as we launch.

And then third our successful raise in the past few months where we brought on a number of quality strategic investors, I’m sure you all may recognize some:)

Chip:
The next question is from @Cj#3815:
I am a huge fan of traditional strategy games. Players who have not previously been involved in the GameFi industry will also be drawn to this game due to its unique features not found in other games. Could you tell us about its notable features?

Lazlo:
Players will have four very different playstyles available to them, with tasks that both rely and take advantage of other players’ choices. While our game will be quite different, some of our inspiration came from legendary strategy games like Age of Empires, Total War, Crusader Kings, and Mount & Blade. For a better idea of visuals, see our website for more gameplay screenshots.

We have taken the best of Age of Empires (developing civilization), Total War (Battle) and Crusader Kings (Political strategy/intrigue) to bring the best strategy game experience ever to everyone.

Imagine you’re a farmer, earning extra in-game resources from the high-tech barn that the lord of your land provided, and then that lord conducts a successful raid on someone else’s land and you get some bonus rewards because your lord attacked the right player.

Chip:
That’s very intriguing with all the game modes, can’t wait for the game to release🚀

Does that mean I don’t have to pay the rent?

Since my rent will be canceled out with the rewards I get

Lazlo:
Haha you will pay some rent to your lord😄

Chip:
Haha I see

Lazlo:
depends how good of a farmer are and which lord you choose to work under…..👀

and certainly a lot of other decisions

Maybe you guys can better understand why we use the term “play-to-own

Chip:
That makes sense.

Interesting logic

Anyway, before proceeding to the following questions from @Avocadians, let’s spice things up and move to the task first, shall we, Lazlo?

Lazlo:
🔥🔥

Chip:
Task ended. Now let us proceed to the following questions.

We have seen Play2Earn games generating hype for quite some time now, but some games didn’t succeed due to technical limitations, game economy, scaling issues, etc.

This brings us to @A.G. Mikeeel’s question as follows: What are your future ideas and innovations to help this game sustain its economy and achieve its goal?

For those who didn’t win, cheer up! We will have another round of open-ended question!

Lazlo:
To be honest, as much as this sounds like a cliche I think much of it comes down to our emphasis on a fun, player-first experience. There are very few games in the crypto space pushing a high-fidelity game experience where tokens+NFT can act as a value-add to both the game and the economy. At its core, Blocklords is a game created by players, for players — and features an immersive multiplayer experience that enables players to craft their own unique adventure within a shared universe.

By participating in different engaging playstyles such as farming, fighting, and ruling, where the results of decision-making and skill all revolve around the same open economy, every player is given both the opportunity and risk to shape their own story in an expansive, ownable, medieval world — to the highest degree—making it a first of its kind for web3.

Chip:
It will surely be fun to farm, fight and rule in the medieval Metaverse. Lazlo just sent me some pics of gameplay and honestly, I’m intrigued by the high-quality design of the gameplay.

Look at the details of the grass and barn and everything.

Lazlo:
Make sure to participate in our gleam to be a part of building the Blocklords universe from the start!

WAGMI

Chip:
WAGMI

And this brings us to @capcosmos’s question, which I think Lazlo will nail it with ease: One of the significant weaknesses of Blockchain-Base games is that they are not gamer-friendly. It usually lacks gameplay and storytelling. What kind of gameplay and gaming experience will Blocklords bring to us?

Lazlo:
As I mentioned, there are a few different medieval playstyles for you to take part in ranging from farmers, to knights, to lords, to raiders, etc.

All of these playstyles rely on each other in different ways both through game mechanics, but also the economy.

This makes it unique in that the players will be the ones who are in charge of crafting the majority of the Blocklords story, from the peasants story of becoming a wealthy landlord, or the raider who conquered a tyrant, or the land owner who built a long dynasty of successful lineage, this universe is crafted your way

Chip:
From reading your answers, Lazlo, let me tell you that I’m confident your project is future-proof. There is much uncertainty about GameFi and NFT, but you seem well prepared. Love it.❤️

Lazlo:
Thank You❤️

Chip:
The last question is from @A.G | ✨GL✨ | Atom, and it is a simple one: When will the game’s official whitepaper be released?

Lazlo:
Whitepaper coming soon, trust that we’re finalizing v1.0 right now for public viewing, stick around in our Discord or Twitter and you’ll hear about it very soon :)

Chip:
And I believe the whitepaper release will surely enhance the understanding of BlockLord-ians towards BlockLords and gameplay!

Thanks, Lazlo, for providing us a clear picture of BlockLords and answering all the questions from @Avocadians.

Before ending the AMA, let’s have another task, shall we?

Two winners with 20 $BUSD each, and you’re allowed to ask one question.

The chat will be open for three minutes for the questions and then closed right after.

@Lazlo will then choose two from the questions to answer.

Lazlo:
🔥🔥

Chip:
Let’s go!

Three minutes passed, and the chat was closed now.

@Lazlo, kindly choose two questions from the above to answer.

Lazlo:
wow so many

Chip:
I’m sure you won’t run out of questions to answer🤣

Lazlo:
Yeah no kidding you guys have a great community❤️

Question from A.G humblegod:
Seeing the number of play-to-earn game that has bad tokenomics and price going down, what are your special strategies for the tokenomics?

Lazlo:
What makes our tokenomics so interesting is that all the different playstyles rely on each other as I mentioned earlier. Depending on which playstyle is most beneficial at the time, our players (by choice in-game) will have to choose which decisions they make in order to re-balance the economy.

Further, the results of whichever playstyle you choose will end up affecting the success of other playstyles as well, making the economy much more robust because of the countless different ways to play.

Question from A.G | 💖 CM 💖 | Maxinnamon:
Is BlockLords beginner friendly?

Lazlo:
Our goal as we progress further towards the full version of the game (which will be released in tiers) is that any player will be able to enter the game for free. The value that they’re able to “earn” from spending their time and energy will be directly affected by the skill and intelligence of the choices they make in-game. So yes it is certainly beginner-friendly, but you can’t expect to earn a ton if you don’t put some thought into it.

Chip:
Great explanation Lazlo!

Well, we got our last two winners.🥳

The AMA is coming to an end too, and thank you, Lazlo, for coming to chat with the @Avocadians today. Nice having you here!
