Chip:
Welcome, everyone! Avocado × Puzzle Royale AMA starts now!

Today we will be joined by @ZM#9672 and @Keylime, and Chip will be the host for today. Yep, that’s me again.

Keylime:
Hey everyone!

Chip:
The chat is closed now, so don’t be afraid if you can’t send messages. Chat will be re-opened straight after AMA is over.

During the AMA, we will have a little giveaway break. If you are quick enough, you will have a chance to win some $BUSD Token, so stick around.

Keylime and ZM, are you ready?

ZM:
Always ready! LFG!

Keylime:
I’m actually super ready. I saw some amazing questions in the channel prior to this starting. I love the enthusiasm!

Chip:
Welcome, ZM and Nick! We’re delighted you are here. Let’s start by hearing a bit about yourself. What’s your background, and what do you do now at Puzzle Royale?

ZM:
Hey everyone I'm ZM, the marketing lead for Puzzle Royale, I'm the youngest on our team and definitely the most energetic. :p my strength will be that I have an undeniable understanding of people. This understanding is what allows me to build rapport quickly and create a narrative that is both true to the product and the values of our users. It is a lesser-known fact that I actually have development capabilities and provide ad-hoc assistance to the main development team.

Keylime:
Sure thing! So my name is Nick, but I’ve gone by “Keylime” for the past few years ever since I started a little YouTube channel about a game that was very much like Puzzle Royale. When I learned about Puzzle Royale, I knew I had to get involved. My professional background is doing Technology Operations for a company in the US, and gaming has been in my life ever since I was 5 years old. The great thing about this team is that everyone is a rockstar in their own way, and it’s a pretty flat team structure. Everyone gets their hands in everything, and we make decisions as a team. My public-facing role has been focused a lot more on editorial and video content given my background on YouTube, but behind the scenes I’m a bit of a taskmaster, making sure we’re doing the right things at the right times and organizing our work so we deliver a quality product. ….also fun fact, I never had a Keylime Pie until about a year ago despite the name

Chip:
I especially love your energetic vibe, ZM, while chatting with you in the group!

I would want to confess that I’m also one of the youngest among the Avocado DAO team too! :)

Keylime:
I’m the grandpa on the team :(

ZM:
Age is just a number, Nick! ;p

Chip:
But wow ZM, I don’t know that you are assisting the development team too!

That’s good to know!

Grandpa always has more experience than us young guy❤

K️eylime:
Less fashion, sense, though. ZM is like a runway model.

ZM:
nooooo, i try my best hahaha

Chip:
Puzzle Royale seems to be scaling well under your wise and experienced leadership and guidance from real-life experience, Keylime!

Love the name btw!

Ok anyway, we’ve been deviating from the topics so much🤣

Without further ado, let’s jump straight to the question asked by our @Avocadians.

ZM:
oops ok, let's go back on track🤣🤣🤣

Chip:
Ok, so the first question is from kawshika.

Usually, I’m the one who asks those introductory questions, but well, here you go:
What was it like to come up with the concept for Puzzle Royal?
What distinguishes this Puzzle Royale Project from others, and how will it contribute to the rapidly expanding Blockchain Gaming industry?

Keylime:
A great question to kick things off!

We strongly believe that blockchain is the obvious next progression in the technology and gaming space…but one area that has been difficult has been getting the traditional gaming audience to look at Web3/Crypto/NFT projects seriously. It’s a completely foreign world to them, and it’s full of bad press about scams and other bad actors.

In order for Play to Earn games to thrive more broadly, we strongly believe in trying to remove as many barriers to entry as possible. This is why we’re releasing the game on both the iOS and Google Play stores. This is why we’re not going to require any NFTs just to try out the game. This is why we’re only requiring a single NFT hero in order to start earning.

It’s all about making the process as easy to get involved with as possible, and that’s an area where we think Puzzle Royale will really help push this industry forward.

Chip:
Woah, that’s super exciting info!

I love how the game is released on both the traditional web2 app store and play store, and we can see how this can bring significant implications outside the non-GameFi sector

I visited Puzzle Royale’s site the other day and was astonished by the smooth transition of the webpage from one slide to another, also the breathtaking animations. The animation of fire dissipating from the blade is so lit🔥

And I want to shout out to the website UI/UX designers!

For Avocadians, if you’re wondering what I’m talking about, here’s the Puzzle Royale site: https://puzzleroyale.io/

Keylime:
The art of the game is honestly so impressive…if I’m allowed to even say that. I was shocked when I saw the initial concepts. Can’t say enough great things about the art team!

Chip:
Love it!

Also, @Avocadians , if you want to learn more about Puzzle Royale, here is their link aggregator: https://linktr.ee/puzzleroyale

The link will be helpful in the next session, if you know what I mean!

Alright so the next question is from @capcosmos:
Could you please tell us a bit about the gameplay overall within the game? What kind of things could we do there — do you have various game modes? Can you shortly tell us about those?

ZM:
Absolutely!

The game is broken down into both PVE (Player vs. Environment) and PVP (Player vs. Player) modes.

In our PVE campaign, the players will face off against the AI in a progression where they will receive Experience to level up their NFT heroes which will make their heroes stronger. It will take the players through different environments and face dozens of wild enemies and bosses!

We’re also including an Endless Tower mode. This mode is where players who like a challenge can enter the tower and see how far they can progress upwards. With each level you beat in the tower, a new set of complications are put in front of the player. Only the best will be able to climb to the highest levels!

We also know that competition is at the heart of gaming. Our PVP mode will allow players to face off against each other. This mode will have a ranking and MMR system to ensure that players are able to compete against players of similar skill and team level. Players who advance far in the ranks will also receive some large in-game rewards as well!

Chip:
That is pretty insightful, ZM!

Apart from these three game modes, I believe more game modes are still in development, right?

Keylime:
That’s right!

We’ve had some fantastic conversations with members of the Avocado team and other partners on some exciting new modes that tap into the competitive spirit of gaming. Almost like a “Fight Club” concept.

In addition, we’re exploring even MORE casual modes in the game, like a daily puzzle (think Puzzle Wordle almost).

We can’t commit to any of these items just yet, but we’ve got the development team working hard on creating proof of concepts for these upcoming modes to release after the game launch hopefully.

These aren’t even on our public roadmap just yet, so you all get the inside scoop on those ideas we’re working on

…but our Raids and Clans is another mode that is on the roadmap. Raids will be an event in which your in-game clan will be able to fight together to post the highest scores to achieve rewards.

The Boss Mode in our upcoming contest is actually a mini-version of this concept!

Chip:
Wow, some alpha leaks for @Avocadians!

Really looking forward to what Puzzle Royale can achieve in the future with all the advanced modes and unique gameplay

Keylime:
Our little secret❤

Chip:
Before proceeding to the following questions from @Avocadians, let’s spice things up and move to the task first, shall we ZM and Nick?

Keylime:
I’m scared and excited

lol

ZM:
LFG!

Chip:
Haha, it will be fun; I promise

Chip:
Now let us proceed to the next questions.

I have so much fun hosting today’s AMA! Really, I have so much fun with you guys hahahah

Keylime:
I’m sucking down coffee faster so I can keep up with the energy, love it

You guys are a ton of fun, lol

ZM:
Nick was telling me about how cool Avocado is, AMA with u guys are so fun compared to other guilds.👀

Keylime:
Wow leaking our DMs…

Chip:
Aww, that’s so nice to hear

Hahaha, anyway, ok, back to the next question

We have seen Play2Earn games generating hype for quite some time now, and there are quite a handful of games with match-3 puzzle elements that have emerged recently. This brings us to @AndyR’s question as follows:

In Puzzle Royale, there are three main ways to create hero NFTs: summoning, fusing and investing in a Battlepass, and progressing through the various tiers, right?

Can you explain to us what each one consists of?

In most blockchain games, this procedure is done through breeding and minting. What similarities and differences do the methods used in Puzzle Royale have with those mentioned? What advantages do they have?

I think there are a lot of questions in just one question🤣

@AndyR you’re killing it with the questions

Keylime:
We’ve analyzed a lot of the games in the crypto space to try and create the best experience for the players. One thing that we’ve seen is that the cost of entry is really high, and this really limits how many players are able to engage with your game. It’s with this in mind that we’ve created the summoning system in place of the traditional breeding system.

Summoning in Puzzle Royale will need minimal investment from the player to just get their hands on some NFTs and start battling. The $PUZZ earned in the game (our utility token) can be used to summon more NFT heroes as well!

Another area that our game will set itself apart is that the NFT minimum required to play and earn within the game will only be a single NFT. While the earning potential of a single NFT isn’t as high as a full team, someone who wants to explore the game more fully without having to put in a lot of upfront cost will have a path to do so.

Our fusing system, on the other hand, is for the more engaged player who wants the strongest NFTs in the game. By taking two of your NFTs and combining them into one new NFT hero, players will often get a stronger NFT out of the process. This will allow that player to move further up the PVP rankings and progress deeper into the Endless Tower.

Our Battlepass is something that players who want to receive more rewards for their time played will be able to opt into. This allows players to really accelerate their progress in the game as long as they are playing every day.

Overall we’re creating as many ways to engage with the game that fits the most number of players. The more casual players can just a handful of NFT heroes and play, while the more hardcore players can invest in the Battlepass and fuse their extra heroes to increase their strength.

…phew…that WAS a lot of questions

Great ones, though

Chip:
Oh my, that’s a lot to read🤣

But I love how the game mechanism is unique with the fusing system and Battlepass. They’re well-thought by the team prior to the release, and I can’t wait for more modes to be released in the future!

Keylime:
It’s definitely an important question so I wanted to do it justice, lol

Chip:
And I love the fact that any player can start the game with just a minimal cost, without needing to spend huge chunk of money to play Puzzle Royale

And this further eradicate the barrier to joining the web3 blockchain games

Also, great explanation by Keylime

Kudos to you!

Keylime:
For sure, this is a major focus for us

ZM:
Nick is the smoothest talker on our team… he can charm anyone!

Chip:
Haha fair enough

I can see why!

Keylime:
ZM still hasn’t accepted my date offer though… :(

Chip:
Haha alright let us back to @AndyR’s question again:

I saw that you have two tokens, $PUZZ, and $ROYAL. Can you explain how the game’s economy works with these two tokens? Why did you decide to include two and not add all the utilities in just one?

Keylime:
I’m trying to give my fingers a rest and let @ZM | Puzzle Royale take this one…don’t leave me hanging.

ZM:
$PUZZ is the only token we’re launching with initially, and it will be the primary utility token of the game. This will be the token reward for their victories in the game.

This token can also be used to summon new NFT heroes, improve your outcomes in the fusing process and get more energy to keep playing the game at the pace the player desires. We wanted to introduce a governance token ($ROYAL) to allow serious players of the game to have more of a say over the future of the game. This token will also have a set supply.

Our goal with $ROYAL is to reward the highest-achieving players in the game with this token, and allow these players to grow with the game itself and influence it’s future development.

ZM:
Thanks Key, even the smoothest talker needs a break sometimes…

Chip:
Oh, so does that mean Pizza Royale will have a DAO, and $ROYAL will be used to vote on future development and direction of the game?

Keylime:
New game name: Pizza Royale

Chip:
Puzzle Royale

Hahaha my mind keep stuck with Puzzle Royale since day 1

It’s so weird

Maybe my stomach has a second thought

Keylime:
Now I want pizza… lol

But to answer the question, we’re still exploring if we’d want to go as far as making it an actual DAO, but at the core of the token are the same principles that govern a DAO at a minimum

Chip:
That’s good to know.

I’m referring to your second para

Keylime:
Pizza is also very important

Chip:
Haha can’t argue with that

ZM:
i love pizza too…

Keylime:
New Hero NFT concept: PIzzanator…shoots pepperoni slices at your enemies

Chip:
This has me laughing so hard hahaha

Really love the name🤣

Keylime:
We’ll make sure to give you a special copy if it makes it into the game, as you’re the originator🤣

Chip:
Can’t wait to try out the game! I will provide my honest review if this game ever comes out

Anyway, let’s back to the last question from @A.G | ✨GL✨ | Atom

We cannot deny that developing a game is difficult. What obstacles did the team encounter to guarantee the game’s success?

Keylime:
One of the most challenging and exciting parts of building the team has been how geographically diverse everyone is. We have people in vastly different time zones working day in and day out on this game, so you could say all of our sleep schedules are a little out of whack trying to ensure we have very tight communication and regular meetings.

Something else that is always a struggle with game development is saying “no” to good ideas. There are a lot of different ways we can take this game, but we really needed to focus on just the core features and doing them well before we start to add in other really exciting concepts that the team and our partners have proposed.

We’re excited to get the initial launch completed, and our key focus after launch will be ensuring economy balance and game balance. This is where a large part of our team will be focused initially after launch, with a subset working on future roadmap items.

There are a ton of exciting features we have planned through conversations with Avocado and other partners, and we can’t wait to share them with everyone!

…and I smell a challenge from Chip in our upcoming competition!!!

Chip:
I know game development is important and you and the team want to bring the best out of the game to us, but please take some rest Nick, ZM and the team

Keylime:
I probably get it the worst being in the US East time zone…but I’ve always been a night owl so it isn’t too far from my usual…sadly…

Chip:
Sleep is important too so we can continue #Buidling with better concentration

hehe anyway, I would like to continue with this topic but seems that we are out of time.

Thanks, ZM and Nick, for providing us a clear picture of Puzzle Royale and answering all the questions from @Avocadians.

Before ending the AMA, let’s have another task, shall we?

Keylime:
TASK TIME!

Chip:
Two winners with 20 $BUSD each, and you’re allowed to ask one question.

The chat will be open for three minutes for the questions and then closed right after.

@ZM#9672 and @Keylime will then choose two from the questions to answer.

Three minutes passed, and the chat was closed now.

@ZM#9672 and @Keylime, kindly choose two questions from the above to answer.

That was a lot of questions🤣

Keylime:
Avocado goes hard, the floodgates were opened and it was intense!

lol

Chip:
Floodgates of the Avocadians

Question from trangphuong tran:
Hello, thanks for doing this AMA!

I’ve always been a traditional gamer all my life from playing (Runescape, Dota2, CS go, League of Legends, Apex, and so on), however, the advent of P2E has encouraged and inspired me to immortalize my gaming and creativity on the blockchain. I would like to know if I’m in the right place? How can I start earning through Puzzle Royale?

I’m not a professional player, and I hardly ever play. Puzzle Royale, on the other hand, has caught my curiosity, and I intend to start playing it as soon as possible. Do you believe yours will be easy to understand for someone who isn’t a frequent or professional gamer like myself?

Thanks for answering.

Keylime:
I wanted to answer this one, as I really relate to this gaming history. I played a lot of World of Warcraft and Dota2…and tons of other games… and I think this really speaks to the types of players we’re hoping to bring into the blockchain arena.

One of the main reasons we chose this style of Match 3 game, is that we know it’s very accessible to a lot of different players.

I’m sure we all have parents or even grandparents or children who have played games like Candy Crush or Bejewelled. Our game has a very similar feeling to these games that allows for a level of approachable gameplay that won’t overwhelm these kinds of players.…

but we also wanted to ensure the game has the depth that more hardcore gamers desire to keep them interested and engaged for the long term.

Building teams is going to be a very important part of really succeeding in the game. Knowing what combinations of heroes work well together against different teams, understanding how the elements are strong/weak against each other…just being a pro-gem-matcher to make the most efficient use of game time…

Making the game approachable and easy to start, but offering the depth that more serious players need is a huge driving force in our game.

We’re also releasing new heroes regularly after release, so the meta of the game will always be evolving.

Chip:
You nailed it with the answer again Nick, really smooth and easy to understand

Question from A.G. Railgun10032:
In the spur of moments like these where the crypto-gaming industry’s being targeted and breached by hackers, what -if there are any- are your measurements and strategies to avoid these and ensure the safety of the investors and the community in general?

Keylime:
This is also an extremely important question that I wanted to raise. There have been a few headlines recently about game hacks/exploits.

We’ve recognized how much of a target these games can be for hackers, and we’ve actually onboarded extremely talented developers in blockchain development to ensure that our protections against these types of attacks are as robust as they can be.

One of the first things our CTO did when he joined the team was spending time trying to hack the game and plugging up the holes as he was getting familiar with the code.

Protecting the economy of the game from a blockchain exploit perspective is just as important as ensuring the game economy balance is done well to ensure a healthy and thriving environment for the players so they can feel confident and safe.

Chip:
Well, we got our last two winners.

The AMA is coming to an end too, and thank you, ZM and Nick for coming to chat with the @Avocadians today. Nice having you here!

All right, I’m going to announce the winner before opening the chat.

Congratulations to @A.G | ✨GL✨ | Atom, @capcosmos, @AndyR, @kawshika, Skyy#0680, @A.G | 📚CE📚 | Ren°2x, @A.G humblegod, @trangphuong tran and @A.G. Railgun10032
