AWAYTOMARS is hitting the runway at Lisbon Fashion week this Saturday 7th October! We can hardly contain ourselves!

On Friday we will be doing a insta-story takeover in Lisbon, guiding you to all our favourite spots in the city. For anyone who’s joining us in the city, we’ve made a bucket list of local foodie places to go whilst you’re in the area. Starting with one of our all time favourite chefs, José Avillez.

Bairro do Avillez

José Avillez has opened his new restaurant, Bairro do Avillez, in the heart of Lisbon. The new menu and decor depicts the different neighbourhoods in Lisbon, with exciting food and unique drinks. If you’re a fan of his food, then you should also try out his other restaurant Cantinho do Avillez, which offers a very traditional Portuguese menu. And finish the evening off at his Minibar for some killer cocktails, just make sure you book as it’s very popular.

If you’re looking for somewhere a little more last minute, Taberna da rua das Flores is a great spot to try, selling only local Lisbon wine. This is a casual restaurant, making it ideal for a quick visit after a long day out. It’s also situated in a very cool area of Lisbon, near some great rooftop bars like Terrace and Bairro Alto Hotel’s top floor bar.

If you do like your drink then you must visit Cinco Lounge for their incredible Cocktails. Try their ‘Hugo-A-Go-Go’, its our fav!

Ramiro — order the Prego, you won’t be disappointed!

If you have some time to spare, then Ramiro is well worth the visit! It is renowned for it’s world class seafood, and legendary Prego (steak sandwich). The sandwich alone has 168 5 star reviews on trip advisor! Be warned, you may need to queue so make sure you arrive early.

If you’re looking for a fun crowd to dine with, check out 100 Maneiras Bistro. In the heart of the town you’ve got great food, cocktails and a good vibe. And if you’re a lover of Gin, you will be blown away by their Hendricks room!

Fancy something a little more Michelin? Both Loco and Belcanto are perfect venues for a special occasion, with their highly conceptual tasting menus very beautiful Estrela settings.

Manteigaria’s legendary custard tarts

If you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth then make sure you head over to the local food market, Mercado da Ribeira. They sell the most incredible ice creams to keep you cool during the hot fashion week ahead. Or try out Manteigaria in Bairro Alto for traditional Portuguese custard tarts, they taste even better than they look.

If you are looking for tradition, you may also like Gamberinos. The place looks like it’s been frozen in time with beautiful stained glass windows and traditional decor.
