We’re following our designer around the city for Milan Fashion week…

AWAYTOMARS now works with over 10,000 users over more than 90 different countries, making it one of the most multicultural fashion brands of our time. As a community of designers we co-create all our collections, sharing inspirations and merging cultures together.

AWAYTOMARS is a huge community of people, all sharing one common passion. To create. We‘ve asked some of our members to share their personal experiences of life in their cities. This week we are covering Milan, through the eyes of Marina Eric, a Fashion Designer originally from Serbia. Marina has given up her time to make a little guide to her favourite places around the historical city. Starting with the most important recommendation, where serves the best coffee?

In the city there is a lot of typical Milanese coffee bars, but Bar Basso is my favourite place.

The panoramic view from Pirelli Tower, masterpiece of Italian architect Giò Ponti.

What cool landmarks are near you?
The nearest is the Central Station with its eclectic façade full of friezes, decorations, high-reliefs is one of the primary focusses of the city, very much like Castello S. and the Duomo.

Milanese Historic House Museum ‘Le Case Museo’ — that includes Villa Necchi Campiglio, Boschi di Stefano, Bagatti Valsecchi, Poldi Pezzoli with their homes and art collections opened to the public.

Do you have a favourite restaurant?
Yes, La Briciola with traditional Italian dishes and Carlo e Camilla with more contemporary approach.

Where do you sit down and get creative?
When I work from home my whole apartment becomes my creative corner!

The Brera District

Do you have a favourite craft shop?
I love the vintage shops Madame Pauline and Cavalli e Nastri, which has an exclusive selection of vintage clothing, antique jewellery and unique mid-century design items. In the historic centre of Brera there is one of my favourite art shops called Cesare Crespi, where I often find some oil pastels or handmade paper for my illustrations.

During Milan Fashion Week, Marina will be sharing some of her favourite city spots on the official awaytomars instagram, so don’t miss out! We will also be posting a personal interview on Marina later this week, talking about her work as a designer and what brought her to Milan in the first place!
