Winners of the Best Hardware, Best Software and Best in Show Auggie Awards presented at AWE Asia 2016 in Xi’an China

AWE Asia 2016 wrapped up last week in Xi’an China after a successful two-day event featuring a global line-up of speakers and exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations in the AR and VR space.

As part of the closing ceremony at the event, Ivan Cui, General Manager of Ginwa e-commerce, an AWE Asia partner and AugmentedReality.org’s CEO and Founder, Ori Inbar took the stage to announce this year’s AWE Asia Auggie Awards winners.

And here they are:

Best Hardware — Shadow Creator

Smartglass manufacturer, Shadow Creator, was honoured the award for Best Hardware for its demo of HUD Air. The Chinese company was also at this year’s show providing a teaser of its upcoming AR/VR device Halo.

Best Software — EasyAR by VisionStar

Taking home the award for Best Software two years in a row was AR SDK, EasyAR. The team was at this year’s show featuring its new features including 3D object recognition, SLAM, and Cloud recognition.

Best in Show — Butterfly VR

One of the most memorable demos at the show was from Butterfly VR who took home the Best in Show Auggie Award. Butterfly was demoing a number of VR experiences which paired real-world simulators and peripherals with VR applications including a skiing simulation and a fish-catching expeirence complete with a physical net.
