Major Announcements from Bosch, RE’FLEKT, Vuzix, Ubimax and more made today at the world’s largest and longest running AR & VR conference and expo

AWE (Augmented World Expo) officially opened its 2nd annual European conference and expo doors today. AWE Europe’s extraordinary agenda kicked off with a first-of-its-kind headline keynote delivered by Jay Kim, Chief Strategy Officer at Upskill, Jay Kothari, Project Lead, Glass and Michael Terrell, Director of Program Management at Coca-Cola Refreshments — where the trio explored the early “wild wearables west,” and how it has evolved and why machine learning offers the next technological step in the advancement of AR to the masses.

Opening remarks were followed by 10 major announcements from established and up-and-coming AR+VR startups covering a range of applications — from exciting new visualization tools for manufacturing and industrial applications, content automation and remote management tools for HoloLens, ARKit and ARCore, innovative graphical advancements for smart glasses, a totally new AR+VR App store for Developers, to new VR gaming technologies and major EU entertainment and media partnerships.

This year’s AWE Europe hosted 90+ exhibitors and 100+ speakers for a 3000-square-meters expo of the most cutting-edge AR and VR exhibits and demonstrations gathered in Munich.

“We’ve been running AWE for eight years now, with this being our second in Europe, and it’s fascinating to see the area’s dynamic AR and VR innovation,” said Ori Inbar, founder and executive producer of AWE. “AWE is helping drive the region’s excitement around AR and VR specifically for enterprise’s building applications in automotive, manufacturing, field services and large retailers and creators who are defining a new user experience for this next wave of computing and helping to turn Munich into the next Silicon Valley.”

“In Bavaria we have both: a strong media industry and strong industries that strive for applying mixed reality technologies. Bavaria is a hotspot for innovation and entrepreneurship. We offer the perfect environment for the technologies of the future. And we have a lively and constantly growing start-up community. That is why Bavaria is the place to be for such events as AWE Europe.”, says State Secretary Franz Josef Pschierer.
