Did you know that even if you are working remotely, you can still have burnout? Time management is a key factor and, if you are not well-organized and overwork to keep up with deadlines, you might end up burning out.
Early symptoms of burnout
You might feel stressed out, feeling exhausted emotionally and physically. Even start losing interest in your work. If you can’t reset your mind, pay attention to these two following situations.
- Can’t disconnect from work. You became obsessed with work: answering emails from the bed as soon as your alarm goes off, skipping lunch because of a video call, and — when everyone gets disconnected from Slack — you are still there. Not to mention you roam around your Trello account ( or whatever platform you use for your sprints ) to check in on your next week’s tasks and start to work on them during weekends. Solution: Work as if you were in your office. Wake up at your usual hours and do nothing on your supposedly commuting time. Or go for a refreshing walk before work. Balance your home and your office. Silence notifications while you are not working. Once you are done with work, go for a walk.
- No inspiration. Suddenly, you begin to drag yourself to the next video call, stop answering emails, procrastinate, and work starts to pile off. Ambition and responsibility flew out the window. Solution: Set up a space that would only be for work. Share some time with co-workers through Slack to get a moment of relaxation. A good laugh can help your inspiration.
We understand that a remote environment may take some time to adapt to. However, the perks are amazing! Once you get the hang of remote working, you will not want to return to the office.
