As of this writing, the Cyber Range has completed it’s infrastructure funding goals for 2020–21. It has been Accepted into the “Tools Arsenal” of the world’s largest Cyber Security Conference, BlackHat in Europe 2019 & continues to evolve and benefit the community.

Upcoming Webinars:

The CoronaVirus has impacted many industry conferences & was responsible for delaying the upcoming presentation at BSides Rochester this weekend. As a result, I’ve setup a zoom meeting & plan to host a couple webinars. To sign-up / register simply click on the Webinar Registration Link.

Partner & Sponsorship Updates

Prior to the BlackHat Europe Arsenal, I started Networking to build multiple partnerships. I entered the BlackHat Arsenal having reached out to Jeff Bezos himself — as well as numerous other project leaders — Simply to obtain stickers.

As of today, the Cyber Range is… (powered by a network of sponsors & partners below)

2020 Outlook:

Over the past 3 months, the project has reached its 2020 funding milestones for Infrastructure. I’ve secured 10k in AWS Credits using both of the AWS Credits / Grant initiatives below.

This first one is for AWS Open-Source projects. After filling out the form and being vetted, I was able to obtain 5k in AWS Open-Source Credits for supporting a community orientated academic training platform. I also leveraged my SU student account to obtain AWS We Work credits.

The combination of these will allow me to continue feature enhancement and expand into another region in 2020. The next region the AMI’s will be available in is the US-WEST-2 region.

AWS Open-Source

Program approval came in on 2/28/20 w/ a 1-yr sponsorship.

We-Work / AWS Activate

Approval came in on 2/8/20 w/ a 1-yr sponsorship.

CloudCraft

This came in this week. Approval clearly indicated they are open-source friendly & support the focus of the CyberRange project. I’ve been able to use the AWS Live Sync-feature & it’s pretty awesome to see how the environment resembles my original design.

In closing,

The goal of this latest article was simply to provide the user-base with update about the overall evolution of the project. There are still many features under development and I myself am constantly focused on training / developing so stay tuned for future releases and conference acceptance notifications.

Cheers Till next time ~Cappetta
