Meme-your-Colleague

Doing Code Reviews — the Dark Side is strong in me!

Recently, we’ve been onboarding a significant number of developers, necessitating their seamless integration into our team. To foster camaraderie and simultaneously enhance our understanding of each other on personal and professional fronts — covering business and technical insights, challenges, and visions — we decided to organize an infotainment team event.

Traditionally, such gatherings commence with individual introductions, but we sought to inject an element of creativity to keep everyone engaged. Enter the “Meme-Your-Colleague” game:

  1. Form teams of two individuals.
  2. Allocate thirty minutes for them to familiarize themselves with one another.
  3. Task each pair with creating a five-minute presentation comprising five slides, each featuring a meme that encapsulates a (fun) fact about their partner.

Encourage the use of meme generators and presentation tools like Keynote or PowerPoint for added flair. The outcome exceeded our expectations, with the entire team thoroughly enjoying the activity — it proved to be a perfect icebreaker!

Your Colleague: A Superhero!

With the advent of generative AI, a plethora of innovative possibilities has emerged. No longer do you need to search for a fitting image — now, you can effortlessly generate one in mere seconds!
Consequently, we transitioned from meme-centric image narratives to stories crafted through generated imagery. To infuse an element of amusement, we opted for the captivating realm of superheroes and supervillains.

To facilitate this creative endeavor, we’ve compiled a concise set of instructions that standardizes the creation of superheroes. This guide empowers anyone to fashion their own superhero in a matter of minutes:

  1. Ask ChatGPT to create a superhero bio with two strength and one weakness, and add some personal details of yours, to make it interesting!
bio of a [female] [superhero|supervillian] <your input>, add two superpowers one weakness, a motto and an archenemy
  2. Let ChatGPT create a visual description applicable for generative AI
visual description in 380 characters for generative image ai
  3. Put description in generative image AI, e.g. Bing Image Creator:
Start with photorealistic and [female] Superhero or Supervillain
  4. Use MotionLeap or RunwayML to put some animation magic in the image
  5. Leave a little hint on your superhero page: SHA256-Hash your company email address, so people can check their guesses!
    MacOS Terminal command:
    echo -n “name@yourcompany.com" | shasum -a 256

Besides the fun creating your superhero-avatar, as a positive side effect people are familiarizing themselves with generative AI, prompt engineering, and they are learning fun facts about their collegues, that creates an additional touching point in office life.
