Setup Check
Let’s give it another once-over
Welcome once again to International Guitar Setup Month!
So, this guitar previously needed a little TLC to get in good shape.
The old restoration / kitsungi project finally had the errant whammy bar return to it.
So, time to re-string and give it a once-over
The action on this guitar has always been quite low, but with some buzz, which is a bit distracting with the single coil pickups. The neck relief is there, but barely visible. In the interests of letting sleeping dogs lie, we’ll accept that.
Instead, I put the new strings on and bumped the height at the bridge, especially for the low E as that was rattling a bit too much for me.

How did we do?
The action on the thinner strings is really quite low, but they still ring out OK.
As we can see, the adjustments in this area can be immensely small compared to the overall scale of the instrument. So frankly, once you have it in a good place, if it sounds good and plays well, best to just leave it alone.
