Today, we’re delighted to announce a very special collaboration with our friends at Loom Network. As many of you know, we have been huge fans of their Layer 2 scaling solution for a while now.
Basically, Loom’s tech will allow us to make the game we’ve always wanted to play — without worrying about the current limitations of Ethereum and without making huge security tradeoffs for scalability.
What is Loom Network?
Loom Network is building a fundamental infrastructure platform to help Ethereum scale.
It allows developers to run large-scale applications and is the first Ethereum scaling solution to be live in production. What’s more, they are also working on building bridges to different blockchains, which means that we can eventually support YOUR favourite blockchain.
This means that applications built on LOOM can be fast but also benefit from the security of the Ethereum base-layer. It’s like having the best of both worlds — security and speed!
What is Axie Infinity?
Axie Infinity is a digital pet universe with a mission of accelerating blockchain adoption. We’re doing this by pioneering and implementing bleeding-edge technical solutions that drive forward the evolution and accessibility of player-driven economies.
Axie trainers can battle, raise, collect, and breed fantasy creatures called Axies. Think of it as a player-owned/driven combination of Tamogochi, Neopets, and Pokemon.
Recently, the Axie team raised over 3,500 ETH to build Lunacia, an open-world with a land system that will unlock gameplay allowing players to attack resource “nodes” to harvest in-game currencies as well as tokens from partnered projects. In addition, land in Lunacia will serve as a launchpad for user-generated content — allowing 3rd party developers to natively integrate their creations and experiences into the Axie universe.
Axie Loom Validator
We’re excited to announce that Axie Infinity will be acting as a validator on the LOOM Network!
Validators are in charge of making sure that all of the transactions on the blockchain they oversee are valid and correct.
Loom Network uses a consensus mechanism called delegated proof of stake. This is a system where key stakeholders(validators) lock in a portion of Loom tokens, representing their “stake” in the network. Because the number of validators is relatively small, it takes less time to reach consensus than on a blockchain like bitcoin or the current implementation of the Ethereum base layer. This speed is what allows fast, smooth dapps to run on Loom!
Since we will be running our game on Loom, we believe that it makes a lot of sense for us to act as a validator. Because the integrity of our game depends on the accuracy and trustworthiness of LOOM’s sidechains — we have a lot to lose if the chain is compromised and can thus be trusted not to attempt any attacks on the network.
Luna for LOOM Token Swap!
We have reached an agreement with Loom to swap our native token, LUNA for LOOM.
This is an exciting development for us since it shows the confidence that the Loom team has in our vision!
We will be using the LOOM tokens to set up a validator node.
Combining Gaming and Staking
We believe that this is a novel step forward for the entire blockchain gaming space.
In order to be successful, Blockchain games need to embrace the features that give them an edge over conventional, mainstream games. This means embracing tokenomics, user-agency, and behavioral economics.
In essence, Blockchain games are crypto networks that use unique tokens to incentivize positive behaviors in their communities.
With this in mind — we will be using our position as a validator to reward our community and delegates.
Here are two possibilities for how we can use our validator to reward our community:
- Sending validator rewards directly into our Land system’s resource nodes.
- Using validator rewards to buyback LUNA token.
We believe that the Axie brand and pre-existing community can turn us into one of the top validators on LOOM.
By staking with us — delegates will be making our game more attractive to engage with from a “play to earn” perspective — thereby attracting more users onto the LOOM platform which will add value to the LOOM token.

Axies, Land and items Migrating to PlasmaChain
PlasmaChain will be the main layer for all assets in the Axie Infinity universe.
This means that assets will no longer show up on Etherscan, but you will be able to view them using the PlasmaChain block explorer. Land and Items are already live on PlasmaChain, and Axies will migrate within a few months. Anyone who wants to use Ethereum as the main security layer for their assets can transfer them back using the Transfer Gateway.

Since PlasmaChain will be the layer where assets reside we are also migrating the marketplace to PlasmaChain. Once everything is fully functional players will have all the same functionalities as they have on the normal marketplace, but it will not cost gas!
We are also working on some cool features like better filtering, bundle trading, and new auction mechanics.
Relentless (ex Zombie Battlegrounds) and Axie Infinity interoperable item.
Lastly, we are excited to share that will be working with Relentless to create an item which has utility in both games once the dust has settled.
