Axie Infinity Partners with Klaytn!

Today, we’re delighted to announce that we will be collaborating with Kakao’s public blockchain project, Klaytn! Kakao is the dominant chat application in Korea and its move into the blockchain space marks a potentially decisive moment in the adoption of distributed ledger technologies.

About Klaytn

Klaytn is the public blockchain project of Kakao, a dominant Korean chat application with over 120 M users that’s used by 90+% of Korean smart phone owners.

Klaytn is a smart contract platform that takes a hybrid approach to decentralization. Rather than having a diverse pool of miners, the validators of the Klaytn chain are reputable global brands such as LG. You can think of it as the Korean Libra!

One of blockchain’s issues so far has been user on-boarding. Kakao will be integrating Klaytn wallet directly into their app, thereby acting as a perfect bridge to the “real world” of everyday people.

Our Partnership

The first aspect of our partnership will involve integrating Klaytn’s native token, the KLAY token into Axie Infinity as a payment method.

KLAY will be a payment option for goods/services sold by the Axie core team.

We see this as an awesome opportunity to onboard Kakao users into the Axie ecosystem.

The Klaytn team has also given us KLAY tokens to use as rewards for our community!

We’re quite interested in expanding our presence in the Korean market and will also collaborate closely with Klaytn regarding Korean media initiatives and meetups moving forward.

While we are starting with this simple integration, we see opportunities to work more closely on a technical level moving forward. For example, we may issue nonfungible tokens or perhaps even LUNA on the Klaytn blockchain in the future.
