Mother’s Day: What it means and what we wish for

From becoming a team member at work to becoming a mother to their family, powerful women all over the world are taking even more roles during this challenging time. How would the working mothers of Ayoconnect describe their experience? What could be their wishes for the celebration of their day?

We understand that it takes more than just determination and skills for a mother to become the best version of herself both in her work and at home. A strong support system from the people and institutions around her matter just as much.

Ayoconnect’s working mothers policies are designed to support the powerful mothers in Ayoconnect thrive and shine. In addition to paid maternity leave, every working mother at Ayoconnect also has the privilege to take paid leave to care for their children in the events of sickness or vaccination time.

In celebration of the international mother’s day, we are taking the opportunity to share their experience as a working mother at Ayoconnect.

Women are the key to sustainable development and quality of life in a family. An educated and empowered woman can make stronger families, communities, and economies with informed decisions. Working at a company that prioritizes equality and has nothing to do with me being a woman is awesome. We are all treated equally in terms of authority, compensation, and responsibilities.

I genuinely believe that many of the challenges that women face could be alleviated if their employers had a supportive policy. Ayoconnect has often made small gestures such as freebies, online activities, and work-from-home policies. The result of this mother’s initiative has shown that women can have a successful career while still caring for their families and children. Nothing is more rewarding than being able to become a successful mother while still being able to contribute to society by having an impact on my work through Ayoconnect.

Women are born with the ability to multitask. Working and doing household chores are both exhausting, let alone balancing work and personal life. Even though working women are still regarded as a myth that is impossible to do, I am proud to be standing where I am today. Ayoconnect has proven it wrong and helped a working mother to change it to: “Of course she can take care of her child and be a fantastic working woman too”.

I wish for acknowledgment for working mothers. I find Ayoconnect’s Working Mothers Initiatives to be really thougtful and sweet. Most working women or any mother figure will most likely have to juggle between home and office responsibilities daily. More often than not, it leads to high levels of stress. The programs and supports that Ayoconnect have implemented to help us maintain our physical and mental wellbeing show that the company really considered this as an important issue to address.

If I’m being asked, “why are you still working?” my answer would be as simple as “because working is one of the forms of my self-fulfillment”. I know for a fact that many women out there choose to still pursue their careers regardless of having multiple roles in the family because it's our me-time.

Ayoconnect’s Working Mothers Initiatives provide me with the flexibility to juggle my responsibilities as both a mother to my family and a team member at work without having to choose between one or the other. And the outstanding point is, I don't feel as if I’m different because I’m a working mom. Instead, it empowers me. All the initiatives for working mothers were made to ensure we could deliver the best output for both our company and our family. Massive shout-out to all working mothers, soon-to-be working mothers, or any mother figures out there. There’s absolutely nothing to be ashamed of being a working mother! We are a superhuman to ourselves, our company, and our family.
