The dark side of ukiyo-e (vol. I)

Ukiyo-e has become an icon of Japanese culture, and inside this icon you can find probably the biggest piece of Japanese imaginary: The great wave off Kanagawa; and with it, the positioning of Katsushita Hokusai (1760–1849) as the main artist of this period. And even if there is nothing wrong with those options as a result, there is a big side of the ukiyo art being left aside in the darkness.
