Ev Williams Sent Me A Letter And I’m Considering A Migration
Is Medium still worth writing for?
I stopped my monthly subscription the past 2 months. In my mind is only one: I don’t read much. When I do, it’s mostly because I hope the author will reciprocate. You know, the ‘you-like-my-picture-I-like-yours’ kind of thing.
Whenever I choose an article, it’s not from a genuine curiosity about certain ideas. It’s always about how to gain more audience or how I made $3274.41 passive income last month.
But as I first started my 9 to 5 (more like 9 to 10 pm) job, I felt a sense of sadness. I missed writing. So I returned to Medium. ‘Creativity heals me and others’, said the author Julia Cameron.
Upon my new subscription, Medium CEO sent a welcome letter. In the letter, he said the following.
20,000 articles a day!
That’s more than half a million articles in one month! Let’s assume that a quarter of that number are really bad articles that nobody will read. This leaves us with 15,000 articles a day. So the chance someone will read yours is 1 in 15,000 or 0.000067.
