Even large cloud providers can make mistakes.

Some of my customers encountered network problems last week— Front Door was unresponsive sporadically, private DNS zones didn’t work, engineers could not log in to the Azure Portal, etc. However, it turned out quickly that the problem was on the Azure team’s side.

Keeping a link to the Azure status page handy for such cases would be a good idea. The Network Infrastructure bar was red during the outage, clearly explaining the root cause of the symptoms described above.

A detailed report on this (and others) incident is worth reading in the Azure Status History section. For example, you can learn that the Azure internal network update caused troubles. The Microsoft team rolled back the release as soon as the problem became apparent.
