Alaska adventure pt3
The whole time I was there was a hustle. I was either working or playing, but mostly working. Although I can’t say the work was bad.
Upon arrival, straight to a meeting and dinner. Friday, up early to Valdez Glacier Lake to ride and see the XC fat bike race course and explore some of the glacier ice bergs in the morning and evening was packet pick up, vendor sales, and a live band that did not end on time. Saturday, up early, load up the truck and head over for the XC fat bike race, then to Shoup trail for the ski/ bike relay (which, as you can see, some decided to relay with their pooches so we made a skijoring category between the two ladies and their dogs on the spot!), and finally to the brewery for socializing and awards. Home early because we were expecting to get up around 5AM to prep for the extreme downhill. I had been warned, the weather was not looking favorable on Thompson Pass, but my alarm went off and I was up. Texts were flying. We needed to set a time to go or call it. Visibility was less that 10%. I was receiving links to on site cameras of the roads. We needed to call it. I texted and emailed the three brave souls who were going to participate and two got the message.
Time to play!
…. Will post tomorrow what we did …
(It was fun!)
