He’s just a kid… or is he?

Jon Watts co wrote and directed Spider-man: Homecoming, he has also directed the thriller Cop Car and the horror film Clown. Homecoming shows how Marvel has so cleverly used it previous movies and the entire Marvel cinematic universe to set up new heroes, with different backgrounds to take over, and start fresh. Spider Man was first reintroduced during Captain America: Civil War film with very little screen time. Homecoming shows what happens after Civil War, focused on Peter Parker a 15 year old teen, who’s “Internship” for Tony Stark entails more than you’d think. Watts didn’t have much of a choice when it came to casting Tom Holland as Peter, due to the fact that he was casted in Civil War to play the part. However I thought it was quite ironic to cast Michael Keaton as Vulture. Keaton also played Birdman in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Birdman”, a film making fun of the culture surrounding big blockbuster superhero movies. I think that Spider-Man: Homecoming is a refreshing new superhero movie and I look forward to what they will do with the character in the future.
