We wanted to reflect back on how cryptocurrency education has evolved over the past year and take a look at what is needed and what to expect in the 2019. Although the initial feeling is still very much that the mass market lacks an understanding about cryptocurrency, we have seen a significant rise in the offering of cryptocurrency education this year.

Cryptocurrency education options increase

Top universities such as Princeton University, the London School of Economics, New York City University and the University of Stirling, are starting to place value on crypto by incorporating cryptocurrency education courses into their business programmes. There has also been a rise in the number of cryptocurrency education videos and channels on YouTube — no longer are crypto YouTube influencers solely reviewing the market and specific coins, but they are now focusing their content around educational explanations about the crypto space.

Online education sites including Udemy, Coursera, Alison and LinkedIn Courses have also increased their selection of cryptocurrency and blockchain short courses and video tutorials.

We have also seen an increase in the offering of cryptocurrency news sites, which are publishing daily articles about the market, regulation and industry news. Some of the top sites include CCN, Bitcoin.com and Cointelegraph. Keeping up to date with cryptocurrency news is a fundamental part of the cryptocurrency education journey. It is not only important that future investors understand what they are investing in, but it is also vital that they are aware of the daily changes, advances and challenges from within the space.

B21 Life cryptocurrency education

And then there are the free cryptocurrency education apps such as B21 Life, which offers a range of free cryptocurrency courses right to your mobile — making it simple and convenient to learn while on the go and at your own pace. B21 Life will help you to understand what cryptocurrency is, learn about the technology behind it and the investment processes in just 3 minutes per day!

Despite all of these advances, there is still a lack of educated investors. While a recent survey conducted by the University of Cambridge reported that cryptocurrency user number has increased to an all-time high in 2018, a 60% increase to date in comparison with the same time in 2017, despite the recent market slump. A further report conducted by eToro suggests that Cryptocurrency education is ultimately the biggest barrier that is preventing investors who invest online in traditional products from purchasing cryptocurrency.

At B21 we are advocates for cryptocurrency education, we believe that to be able to grow adoption, we must first provide quality cryptocurrency courses for the mass market. This is something that has been a little slow in gaining traction, however as we reached the final quarter of 2018 we are happy to see that more fellow crypto enthusiasts are on the same page as us. Of course, there is still a long way to go if we want to ensure that everyone around the world is educated to the level that they can begin to fully place value on this revolution.

Cryptocurrency education in 2019

And so what needs to be done in 2019 and what can we expect to see in order to improve cryptocurrency education?

Ultimately one of the most important steps will be to educate the educators! It is very important that schools and universities understand the significance of this revolution and why cryptocurrency education is important — we are already starting to see the crypto and blockchain industries flood recruitment website listings, it is only a matter of time before they dominate the space! It is now our job (the whole industry) to presents the benefits of cryptocurrency to education institutes and give them a solid reason to implement a cryptocurrency education structure.

We have already seen the government of Gibraltar collaborate with the University of Gibraltar to create an advisory board that focuses on the development of blockchain education courses. Can we expect to see a similar announcement regarding cryptocurrency education? We hope so. Gibraltar led the way in the launch of cryptocurrency regulation, and so we can predict that other governments and universities will follow suit in 2019!

Despite the rise in fresh news sites, there is still a large gap in the market for quality news offerings that build relationships with crypto and blockchain brands to ensure that they are pushing out the most factually correct and up to date reports. Often we are seeing false news within the space and while this issue had improved dramatically in the past 12 months there is still scope for publications to clean up their act and for new sources to enter the market to ensure that everyone has access to the top news daily from within the crypto space.

What to expect from B21 Life cryptocurrency education app in 2019

In 2019 B21 Life is going to step it up a level. you can expect to see more bespoke cryptocurrency education courses which will advance from a beginner level to an intermediate focus. Of course, all of our existing free crypto courses will remain on the app, we will simply be adding to it with a more in-depth focus on cryptocurrency education. If there is anything that you would like us to cover, let us know and we will create a video, write a blog, add a fun fact, or create a lesson to help you understand the subject better.

While adoption is imperative for this industry to flourish, education is the main key to acquisition!
