In the beginning, there was pizza. Nowadays, you can spend your digital assets on much more than pizza, in a wide variety of places, and both online and in-person. And while there are more comprehensive lists available, we hope this will highlight the diversity of options available.

These are the places that accept digital assets as payment at the time of writing:

Gift Off

Now, if you’ve never heard of Gift Off you may be wondering why we’ve put them right at the top of this list. But trust us, it’s not without good reason.

While it’s fair to say that most major retailers don’t accept digital assets yet, it’s also fair to say that most do offer gift cards and vouchers — and that’s where Gift Off comes in.

Gift Off sells gift cards for pretty much every retailer and service that offers them and does so at face value. But, crucially, Gift Off now accepts digital assets as a form of payment, which means you can use your digital assets to buy vouchers for Amazon, ASOS, Spotify, Uber… basically any and every one of the popular retailers you already shop with.

So while it’s not a direct way of being able to spend your digital assets in your day-to-day life, using Gift Off to buy vouchers with digital assets is as close as you’ll get until the major stores start accepting directly accepting them.

airBaltic

Weirdly, airBaltic only accepts digital assets as payment for what they call ‘GREEN’ and ‘GREEN plus’ tickets (the two cheapest of their four ticket types) — not especially useful if you’re a digital assets millionaire who wants to travel in style.

But let’s focus on the positives: airBaltic do flights to most European nations, and even go to parts of the Middle East, too.

Plus, according to airBaltic, they cherry-pick their very best flight deals to post on their website and their website only. So, it seems you may only have to part with a small portion of your digital assets fortune when you book your flights with airBaltic.

Travala

If airBaltic isn’t flying to where you want to go — or you need to book some accommodation too — head over to Travala.

Travala allows you to book hotels and flights all over the world using a whole range of digital assets.

Helpfully, when you’re browsing the site, you can even change the default currency, so you’ll know exactly how much you’ll be spending on your trip with your digital asset of choice. And Travala doesn’t just sell flights and accommodation: activities are available too, meaning you could end up paying for an entire holiday with your digital assets.

You can even pay for hotels and other holiday services on Expedia with digital assets if Travala doesn’t have what you need — making your complete holiday experience entirely funded by your digital assets.

Overstock

Not heard of Overstock? They’re big in the US, but you’re just as able to take advantage of the great prices they have on home decor, furniture, and electronics outside The States too.

The former CEO of Overstock, Patrick Byrne, is a huge advocate of digital assets, and it was on his watch that Overstock became the first major retailer to let customers buy products with them.

In fact, in early 2019 the company even announced that it was set to pay a portion of its business tax using digital assets!

Newegg

Again, although Newegg is a lesser-known brand, you shouldn’t let that put you off using their services — especially if you happen to own some digital assets.

The online retailer sells all kinds of tech, from games consoles to computer components, hoovers to coffee machines, and everything in between (with some clothes thrown in there too).

To pay with digital assets, all you have to do is decide what you want to buy and then complete the payment process; it’s as simple as that!

And if tech and computing are your things, UK-based company Scan offer all things tech and they accept digital assets as payment too.

Wikipedia

Everyone uses Wikipedia to get a rough idea of a topic or to occasionally dive into a “Wiki-hole” on a given subject (or perhaps frequently)!

What’s more, Wikipedia owes its existence to the generosity of the general public, and now accepts donations in digital assets. After everything it’s done for you, a small donation of your digital assets is the least you can do for Wikipedia.

Wikipedia teamed up with the payments provider BitPay to make digital assets donations possible — and so have many more charities, foundations, and businesses which you can view here and see the many other places you can spend your digital assets.
