First off, thank you so much, Dr.Kreibich, for coming to Babson. This was a very insightful talk about the political state of Germany.

During Dr. Kreibich's visits to Babson, I was able to learn about why Germany is still so non-nuclear power, as well as the rise of the far right party AfD in Germany. I was able to ask a new question about each of these issues and got very interesting responses from Dr. Kreibich.

The first question I asked was

Why does Germany still have such a strong anti-nuclear stance since the bad nuclear instance with Crynobel was over 40 years ago and a whole generation now exists?

She gave an interesting response because of the amount of trauma that caused for people. This was so devastating that it was passed down to the next generation. I found this response very interesting, and seeing the German people putting feelings before facts is very unlike the very calculating German persona.

The second question I asked was more about energy products.

“What is Germany's plan to fill the nighttime energy gap?”

She said this is one of the main concerns of every developed nation trying to switch to renewables. But Germany is using more hydroelectric power to partially fulfill night time energy demand, instead of using nuclear energy like France.

Overall, I learned more about the German energy system and understood how history shapes the current economic and political environment of the country.
