Generally, couples have it all figured out, but as soon as a baby comes in the equation they start to lose balance. Parents have to adjust themselves to the needs of the baby. In understanding the baby needs mothers often let go of theirs. It is very important to maintain a balance between the needs of a baby and a mother so that they both remain healthy.

1. Learn to take a Break

Every now and then mothers should be given a break. It is important for their own health as well as the health of the baby. Vigilant and active mommy is better than sloppy and tired mom. There should be one more person other than the mother to take care of the baby. Co-parenting gives the time to both parents for bonding with the baby as well as resting.

2. Don’t lose your identity.

Often when a baby is born mothers think that their career is over. It is true that small babies can be very demanding and it is the responsibility of a mother to provide for them. It is also true that one should never give up on their career and ambitions just because a baby is born. Husbands should be supportive in helping their wives revive their identity after childbirth. Parents should find help for the baby while they restart their careers and life while still taking care of the baby.

3. Work at home:

Some parents are not comfortable leaving the baby alone with the nanny. In that case, mothers should be encouraged to work from home. This helps in keeping the mother connected to work while still staying around the baby.

4. Get organized

For new moms, it is very important to get organized. Make a to-do list one night prior. This way you would know beforehand what you have on your plate for the day and will be able to manage it properly while taking care of your baby. Making a list also decreases the chance of you forgetting something important. So next time before you go to bed, make sure you know exactly what you have to do tomorrow.

5. Get your partner involved:

Being a mother doesn’t mean you have to do everything alone. Your baby needs both parents, not just one. You should make sure that your husband is also involved in taking care of the baby. Leave some chores for your husband, that way you will be able to get some time for yourself as well.

6. Don’t overdo it:

Understand that your body needs rest as well. If you try to manage everything on your own your body will eventually collapse. Don’t push your limits, rather take it slow. While taking care of the baby parents become hyper-vigilant. Take it easy; take it slow, and take it one step at a time.

7. Look fresh and feel good:

Mothers should schedule some me time to take care of themselves. It is important that there is a helping hand around so you can take some time out to feel fresh and healthy. Do whatever it takes to make yourself look and feel great. You have just had a baby so you should not worry too about your figure, but don’t let yourself go at the same time. Find that balance that works for you and stick to a schedule. A fresh and happy mom will have a positive effect on their baby and it will make you feel good about yourself as well. If you don’t feel good about yourself there is no way you will be able to take care of your baby in the best way possible.

8. Socialize:

Just because you are a mother doesn’t mean you can’t socialize anymore. Leaving behind your social life increases the chances of depression. Mothers should be encouraged to have a good social life. Involving yourself in your social circle allows you to feel connected to other people as well as your baby. Social parents are often better at parenting than those who obsess over the baby all the time.

9. Patience:

Parenting requires a lot of patience. There are a lot of things that change so quickly and if you start panicking over every little thing you will end up in a mess. Mothers should remain patient and understanding to create a calm environment for their child and family.

10. Know your baby’s body clock

Knowing your little bundle of joy’s body clock and sleep routine will help you cope with the ever-present exhaustion that you have been feeling lately. At this stage, your baby REALLY needs good sleep for healthy mental and physical growth.
