There is a king. The kingdom is small next to the mighty Vijayanagar Empire. While everyone is looking at the Vijayanagar Empire for the splendour and the glory, no one cared at the small kingdom. This tiny kingdom has a curse. Because of this curse, every citizen stinks, and no one has an explanation. Animals, fish and birds are no exception. The stink does not go even after vigorous rubbing and sacred baths in the rivers. Because of this stink, the citizens are unable to travel to other kingdoms. The guards at the neighbouring nations initiate security measures not to allow the citizens into their countries. Girls are unable to find husbands in the neighbouring countries, and they end up marrying their kith and kin. The king consults many sages, learned men and gurus. He initiates lots of prayers and havans (Holy fires) to remove the curse. The citizens are very hardworking, and there is a lot of wealth in the treasury. The king announces a handsome reward to the citizen who provides a suitable solution. Several citizens come forward with many ideas. But the stink will not go.
The king comes to know of a faraway country (possibly Egypt) which specialises in perfumes. The perfumes consist of oils extracted from flowers. Different combinations of oils gave different scents. The perfumery experts have heard of the plight of the citizens of the tiny country. They ask the king to send two most stinking citizens for their study. Two identified citizens arrive in the faraway land. On arrival, the experts take the two citizens directly to their labs. They analyse the stink and experiment with different combinations of the oils on these two subjects. After several days of tests, the experts come up with a specific formula to get rid of the stink. These two subjects return to their kingdom overjoyed with samples of the perfume. The king asks his very close aides to try it out. The new fragrance sees to be working.
As the tiny kingdom is unable to transport perfume, the king requests the king of the faraway country to set up manufacturing sites in his country. The production sites come on all the four corners of the country. The supply and distribution start quickly, and the people are happy that they have a solution at last. The king is immensely relieved.
After a few days of usage of the perfume, there has been a complaint. While the scent seems to remove the stink, the smell of the fragrance is not going. The air is smelling the perfume. Books, clothes, furniture, food are all smelling of the scent. Children are unable to eat food. Adults are unable to sleep. The conversations are becoming difficult as everyone is feeling the same aroma. The smell is so strong that repeated washing of clothes is not helping. The scent is not going despite dipping into stinking pools. Visitors of the neighbouring countries are not coming because of the perfume.
The king has a new challenge. He consults Wisemen in the kingdom and finds out that there is yet another kingdom which specialises in removing the stink. But the specialists can only help in returning to the original odour. The king gets into a consultation mode again and is unable to find a solution.
In the meantime, a citizen is walking past a pond near the capital. He feels thirsty and wants to drink the water in the lake. He sits on a small stone and starts drinking water using his palms. During the drinking process, the rock gives away, and he falls into the pond accidentally. He swims and reaches the shore quickly. When he gets out of the lake, he realises that the perfume smell is gone. He feels very different as if he has acquired a new life. He rushes to his family to let them know that his smell has gone with the water in the pond. Yes. The family members smell him and realise that the smell has gone. All of them rush to the lake to take a dip. They are relieved of the perfume after the swim. The word spread about the magical miracle pond far and wide in the kingdom very soon. Several citizens start travelling to the lake to take a bath in the pond.
The prince, who has just returned after completing his MBA at Stanford, rushes to the lake and sees himself what is happening. He sees a vast business potential and creates a roadmap of improving the infrastructure and makes very ambitious plans for developing the area into a tourist destination. Very soon, the lake is on the global tourist map.
As always, the first visitors are Chinese, and they find that the water relieves people of any body odour. The tourism business flourishes and a new airport and hotels are built in the capital to accommodate the new arrivals. When all was going well, a visitor from Wuhan arrives after The Chinese New Year.
I do not want to narrate the story further as all of you know what would have happened next.
