This is our super simple guide to backing up your Ubiquiti® UniFi Controller or Cloud Key on automated schedules.

What you will need

  1. A UniFi Controller — This can be any sort of controller like a Cloud Key, Raspberry Pi, your own server or a hosted server. It needs to be accessible over the internet or you can whitelist it to our IP (details in out portal) but it does need a permanent IP or Hostname.
  2. A BackiFi.com account. Don’t worry, it’s free.
  3. A location to send your backups to like Dropbox, Google Drive, AWS S3, FTP/SFTP etc.

Instructions

  1. Login to your BackiFi account, connect at least one controller, connect at least one storage location and then go to schedules to set some up.
  2. Click the + button top right and the rest is intuitive.
  3. If you want multiple daily backups, like every midday and midnight, then create two daily ones. If you want weekly backups, create 4 Monthly ones and set to differnt days of the month.
  4. You can add as many different schedules that you like, once done, go to the Configurations tab and setup some scheduled automated backups.
