Computers and smartphones have given us an incredible ability to relive old memories. Whether it’s all the digital images you’ve taken over the years, ghosts waiting in old video games, or chatting with friends and family, it’s easy to get nostalgic.

But technology is not perfect, and you can lose all those memories if you do not back them up regularly. WhatsApp conversations are no different. If you do not have a backup and something happened to your iPhone, all those memories could be gone forever.

WhatsApp is a messaging and communication application that enables users to text, chat, and share media, including voice video and messages, with individuals or groups. In addition to using WhatsApp on phones, you can also get it on your PC and laptop.

Unless you manually back up WhatsApp, you can quickly lose access to essential conversations or, worse, to the contacts themselves. Whether you want to move to a new device or worry about losing calls, there are numerous reasons why you should back up your data.

Usefully, some apps, including WhatsApp, have ways to back up your data automatically. This article will explain to you in brief how to back up WhatsApp messages and attachments to your phone.

Key wearable products

  • You can back up WhatsApp messages from the application.
  • By default, Android devices utilize Google Drive, and iOS devices use iCloud for backup.
  • Other services may store the backup you create.
  • You can restore your WhatsApp conversations during the installation process.

Even though you can back up your phone locally, you can not easily use it to push conversations to a new device, and it will not protect you from most cybercrime or physical damage.

Rather, you should keep a copy in the cloud. Fortunately, it only takes a few taps to save all your WhatsApp data to Google Drive or iCloud.

How to restore Google Talk backup chat history

To successfully restore Google Drive backup, you need to use the same phone number, and Google Account used to create the backup.

  • Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.
  • Open WhatsApp and confirm your number.
  • When prompted, tap DOOR to restore conversations and media from Google Drive.
  • Once the restoration method is complete, tap NEXT. Your conversations will be displayed as soon as the initialization is complete.
  • WhatsApp will start updating your media files after your chats are restored.
  • Note: If you install WhatsApp without prior backup from Google Drive, WhatsApp will be automatically restored from your local backup file.

How to restore the chat history from a local backup

If anyone of you wants to use a local backup, you will need to transfer the files to your new smartphone using a computer, file explorer, or SD card.

  • Your phone will store local backup files for the last seven days.
  • Local backups will be automatically completed every day at 02:00 and saved as a file on your phone.
  • If your data is not saved in the / sdcard / WhatsApp / folder, you can see the “internal memory” or “main memory” folders.
