I Am The Dandelion

I have a rosette of edible leaves
and corona of bright yellow flowers
my seeds fly with the wind in downy tufts
I’m referred to as a weed though I have superpowers.

Those known to gather me up in handfuls
and gently release my roots from the ground
my stems and roots are used to make dandelion coffee
one of the best diuretics ever found.

I’m prolific and should never be poisoned
save me, and I’ll save your life
I’ll keep you well-nourished and healthy
and save you from a surgical knife.

You may walk in a meadow across me
watch my tufts blow free on the breeze
stay for a while. I am also tactile
though my tufts could make you sneeze.

I have the power to purify you
my sister’s brothers and my cousins too
and others related closely to me
know what we can do for you.

I am the lion’s tooth and dandy lion
named by the jagged shape of my leaf
I am an edible of the
