Ayaan Hirsi Ali is Just Cosplaying Christianity

But her conversion of convenience highlights an important truth about religion

Ayaan Hirsi Ali was once known as the “fifth horseman” of the New Atheism movement, alongside Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, and Daniel Dennett. After announcing her atheism in 2002, Ali vaulted to fame in 2006 with the publication of her autobiography Infidel.

But in a recent post for the conservative newsmagazine UnHerd, Ali has announced that she now identifies as a Christian. Why?

Well, obviously because she now believes in God, right? And she believes that Jesus Christ was God’s only begotten son, born of virgin, who suffered and died for the redemption of humanity’s sins, no? And she believes that he was resurrected body and soul from the dead, and that those who believe in him will also be raised up and enjoy life eternal with God in heaven?

Actually, I have no idea if she believes any of that, because her essay never mentions it. She managed to write two thousand words about her conversion the Christianity without sharing her thoughts on Christian theology once.
