The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is a central event in Christian theology, with significant implications for the faith’s understanding of atonement, redemption, and the nature of God’s love.

Even though the primary accounts of Jesus’ crucifixion can be found in the four Gospels of the New Testament, we can also examine extra-biblical sources that corroborate this event’s historical authenticity.

Various non-Christian sources from antiquity, including Roman and Jewish historians, philosophers, and religious texts, provide evidence that supports that a man named Jesus was crucified under the rule of Pontius Pilate.

The coming together of these independent accounts, some even hostile to Christianity, lends credibility to the historical reality of the crucifixion and enriches our understanding of this pivotal moment in Christian history.
