I Miss “Feminine” Sweet Lovely Jesus

Gentle Jesus, meek and mild

When I was growing up in the evangelical church in Canada, we used to sing songs about Jesus being the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley. His name was “ointment poured forth,” and “more precious than silver,” and “honey on my lips.” We called Jesus “sweet,” and “kind,” and “lovely.”
