Never Have I Wanted To See An Athlete Lose More Than I Do Today
Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard is Tim Tebow, sans the humility.
I’m sure a lot of folks would strongly disagree with me. They probably look at this beaming, handsome hunk and exclaim, “Isn’t it wonderful to see such a wholesome, devoutly Christian young man having such success!”
But, in my opinion, Riley Leonard personifies much of what gives Christianity a bad name. Not only do I find the Notre Dame quarterback’s flaunting of his religiosity offensive. I find his holier-than-thou attitude obnoxious, nauseating, exasperating, and infuriating.
Remember Tim Tebow?
Leonard shares certain qualities with another collegiate quarterback who came to national prominence about 15 years ago: Tim Tebow.
Like Tebow, Leonard is a truly gifted athlete, fleet of foot, self-assured, undeniably attractive, and a born leader. As did Tebow, Leonard never misses an opportunity to testify to his Christian faith. And, notably, like Tebow, he grew up privileged, entitled, and White.
One quality Leonard doesn’t share with Tebow is humility. In fact, the guy seems overtly arrogant, self-righteous, and smug.
