Pay-to-Pray: $100,000 Per Ticket to Attend Church Service for Trump
The Cost of Worship in Trump’s America
These days, I’m rarely surprised by anything in politics, but this one stopped me in my tracks. As Donald Trump prepares for his second inauguration, one story has emerged that left me shaking my head in disbelief.
The Economic Times reports that for a measly $100,000, you can gain access to an exclusive donor package offered by the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee. This package includes tickets to a Sunday church service titled “One America, One Light Sunday Service.” Alongside this spiritual offering, donors also receive premium seating at the swearing-in ceremony, access to the inaugural parade, invitations to high-profile receptions, and even accommodations for the multi-day event.
While fundraisers tied to presidential inaugurations are nothing new, this particular offering grabbed my attention for the fact that it includes a church service, making Donald Trump the first president in history to charge for access to a worship service as part of an inaugural donor package.
A church service — arguably one of the most sacred, communal, and, well,… free aspects of the Christian faith — is now part of a high-priced donor package.
