Want to be Manly? Look to the Quiet Toughness of Jesus
5 ways that Jesus showed strength and toughness
Young men seek models of masculinity in all the wrong places, while the perfect model lay right under their noses. Religious or atheist, member of a church or a “nothing in particular,” everyone knows the example of Jesus.
The Andrew Tates of the world sell a version of masculinity based on flashy dominance. But do you know who’s really strong and tough? The people who never talk about how strong and tough they are.
Jesus did not dominate. He served. Jesus did not demand attention. He humbled himself. Jesus did not flee danger. He endured. His quiet strength and toughness provide the model of masculinity that men need so badly.
Here are five ways that Jesus demonstrated true strength, toughness, and masculinity.
Jesus Talked to Enemies
We tend to associate strength with defeating, or the ability to defeat, one’s enemies. A strong man overpowers others and wins conflicts.
If he can’t overpower an enemy, then he ostracizes that enemy. He refuses to associate with people with different beliefs and values. He cancels them.
