What are your statistical odds of getting to heaven?

In my last article, Will the Real Christianity Please Stand Up?, I addressed how the simple words and ideas Jesus taught led to a new religion within the disciples' lifespan. Now, I don’t believe the disciples intended to create a new religion, but the end result is they did.

In order to defend the gospel message and their teachings from false teachers and imposters, the New Testament writers went to great lengths to slice, dice, and organize the truth of their experiences with Jesus, the meanings of his messages, and the witness of his death and resurrection. Theologians have further minced and systemized New Testament doctrinal theology over the last 2,000 years, leading to many distinct paths of Christian understanding.

So, we are where we are — 300 plus major ecclesiastical traditions splintered into over 45,000 distinct sub-denominations in 238 countries, depending on how you categorize them.

Huh. So, what does this mean?

Let’s have some fun with numbers
