Establishing a Vision

Having a vision is central to achieving almost anything, by giving a project direction. Without direction, there is not plan and no path forward, only wasted time and oportunities. Determining what your end goals are and visualizing them is what establishes the basis your ability to achieve them. When you take time to visualize what you want to achieve, picturing yourself in the position you want to achieve, you will be more determined to get there.

Making a practice of visualizing your goals and the sense of achievement they offer, you will more easily remember them when planning your schedule and making decisions because they will become more and more prominent among your priorities. Benjamin Hardy stresses the importance of this idea in his blog, Personal Growth, like this, “When you give yourself time to really think about what you want to see happen, you start to get lots of insights into how to make it happen.” He is explaining how thinking about your goals will improve your ability to find a way to overcome anything blocking your way. Having this attitude really distinguishes successful people from average achievers. We will only be willing to do hard things if we are really committed to them, committed to going through the pain involved in being successful. The commitment really comes from knowing and valuing the result, being able to believe that all the stress and hardship is worth it.

As an accounting student I personally understand the massive amount of effort it takes to do well. When things get tough I have to keep focused on the fact that I want to be an accountant, that I really believe it is a good career choice. I know that avery assignment, every point counts so that I can keep my GPA up so that I can achieve my goal. I wouldn’t be able to keep doing it if I had no vision of a future career.
