You Never Know What is Lurking Behind a Pretty Face

The truth about my little ginger princess

Ginger the Princess. Author’s photo.

Look at that pretty face. For a mature Filipino girl, she is delicate and ladylike in everything she does.

On the lead, she trots down the pavement like a ballerina in the corps de ballet. Off the lead, she whizzes past like a shooting star, full of all the joys of life.

She is gentle in everything she does, too, and is overflowing with gratitude. She adores her humans and lets each and everyone know just how much.

When we are out stomping on the high moor, she comes to my side, a look on her face that says “Thank you! For the best life ever!”

I perch upon a rock and gaze at the view. She sits up close beside me, enjoying strokes and ear-rubs galore, her lustrous fur glistening in the sunshine. I know she appreciates the view, too, for her face lights up each time we arrive atop the open moor, her curiosity dictating her eager stare out of the car window.

At the beach, like a truly refined member of the nobility, she waits until sunset, when all the rabble has left, to enjoy her own explorations.
