Everything you need to know about how to get to the summit, where to stay, and what to do!

Where is the Badge Summit located?

The Badge Summit is hosted annually @ CU Boulder in downtown Boulder, Colorado, USA.

Where is Boulder, Colorado?

Boulder is located at the base of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, at an elevation of 5,430 feet (1,655 m) above sea level. The city is 25 miles (40 km) northwest of the Colorado state capital of Denver and 40 miles from Denver International Airport (DIA).

How do I get to Boulder, Colorado if I am from out of state?

If you are joining from outside Colorado, we recommend flying into the Denver International Airport (DIA). The airport is about a 50-minute drive or a 1 hour and 30 min bus ride from campus.

How might I get from the Airport to Boulder?

There are a number of public transportation options available, making it easy to get to Boulder from the Airport.

How might I travel around Boulder?

There are a number of public transportation options available, making it easy to get around Boulder.

  • RTD owns and operates Boulder’s Community Transit Network to transport passengers around Boulder and connect with regional routes. The RTD has an app for Apple and Android devices or the Trip Planner can be accessed directly from a web browser.
  • RTD has a convenient stop at Broadway & Euclid, near the University Memorial Center on the University of Colorado Boulder campus where the Badge Summit will be taking place.
  • Both Uber and Lyft operate in the area. Download their apps to learn more.
  • Boulder B-cycle, a local bike share program, can be a fun and sustainable way to get around town while you’re visiting
  • Walking: Boulder is a very pedestrian-friendly city. The Pearl Street Mall is about 20 minutes walking distance, and “The Hill” is about 5 minutes walking distance. Both offer food, coffee, drinks, and entertainment options.

What are parking options if I’m driving?

If you are driving to the summit, parking is complimentary for all registered attendees. Information about where to park and how to register your vehicle will be sent to all attendees prior to the conference.

Where would you recommend I stay?

The University of Colorado has established relationships with local hotels to provide a local preferred hotel program that benefits our travelers and guests. The University’s negotiated rates at the preferred hotels listed below are lower than the rates typically available at these properties.

To book with one of the preferred hotels you can book directly on the hotel’s CU website (if the link is provided) or call the hotel directly. If you call to make a reservation directly with any of the preferred hotels, make sure to mention “The University of Colorado special rate.”

Before booking, you may want to check on the distance between potential hotels and the University Memorial Center at 1669 Euclid Ave, Boulder, CO, 80309. The city of Boulder is fairly small, so most hotels will be less than 10 minutes away by car and easily accessible by bus, scooter, and bicycle.

What is the climate like in Boulder?

At over a mile above sea level, Boulder’s elevation, combined with its dry climate, makes it extremely important to stay hydrated. Visitors are encouraged to see these tips for preventing altitude sickness and knowing the signs of dehydration.

With roughly 300 days of sunshine combined with high altitudes, Boulder has a mild, dry climate and experiences all four seasons throughout the year. With these elements, please consider sunscreen, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle.

What is there to see and do around Boulder?

With some of the top outdoor recreation and beautiful mountain landscapes in the nation right on its doorstep, it boasts world-renowned restaurants, stellar music venues, and art galleries, as well as walkable public spaces.

Bring your hiking boots or walking shoes, a hat, and a water bottle! There are some great walks in/around Boulder that you won’t want to miss!
