Bahrain Foreign Minister Meets With Secretary Kerry, Chairman Of Senate Foreign Relations And Others In Washington

On the sidelines of his current official visit to the United States, Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa met with US Secretary of State John Kerry, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker, and other senators, including Senator Christopher Murphy, to discuss areas of growing cooperation between Bahrain and the United States.

In his meeting with Secretary Kerry the minister highlighted Bahrain’s desire to strengthen bilateral relations, expand joint ties and enhance coordination and understanding to support shared interests and confront joint challenges. The minister commended the pivotal role of the United States in maintaining security and stability in the region as well as its commitment to cooperate with countries in the region in confronting different challenges.

Secretary Kerry affirmed the United States is committed to its positive partnership with Bahrain on all levels, wishing the Kingdom further progress and prosperity.

The minister reviewed with the Senators decades-long joint cooperation between Bahrain and the US and commended the serious drive of the US Senate to deal with the regional issues and contribute to settling crises and solving problems in the region. They discussed current developments unfolding in the region and other issues of mutual interest.
