Bahrain’s Unemployment Rate Drops To 3.1%

Labor and Social Development Minister, HE Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has a strong vital economy, capable of creating attractive job opportunities for its citizens. Bahrain has maintained the rate of unemployment within low limits, according to international standards.

The minister was speaking on the occasion of issuing the 2015 third-quarterly statistical data report for the months of July, August and September, which was approved by the Cabinet during this week’s meeting. He cited the key achievements of the third quarter, namely that the unemployment rate is steady at 3.1 percent, compared with 3.6 percent in September 2014. Unemployment has dropped from 3.3 percent to 3.1 percent from June to September as a result of hiring increases.

Minister Humaidan said latest labor market indices in the Kingdom of Bahrain indicate stable, improved vital rates achieved over the said period which reflect positive efforts of various government agencies, with cooperation from the private sector aimed at qualifying, training and hiring the national workforce in suitable jobs. He credits the reforms led by His Majesty King Hamad, with support from the Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa, and HRH Prince Salman, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
