The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States hosted the Second Round of Parliamentary Elections

Embassy Newsletter 25 November 2014

Washington D.C.: The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States welcomed citizens from across the United States to cast their votes for the second round of Parliamentary elections today.

The second round was held for constituencies where no candidate had more than 50%. The top two contenders from the first round move to the second round to decide the candidate winner. Due to the high number of candidates contesting for seats, votes were spread amongst the candidate pool in each constituency. 6 members had secured seats in the first round of voting, leaving 85% of constituencies (34 out of 40) going to the second round. With the current status of seat holders, we can expect to see at least 60% of the new Parliament compromised of new members.

The Embassy extends its gratitude to all the Bahrainis that came out once again to vote, and looks forward to the second round of elections in Bahrain on the 29th of November 2014.
