Bahrain’s commitment to international conventions on protecting ozone layer stressed

Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA)— Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Supreme Environment Council Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa has emphasised anew Bahrain’s commitment to all agreements and conventions on protecting the environment and the ozone layer by switching to more secure alternatives.
Marking the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, which is celebrated on September 16 every year, he commended global efforts to protect the ozone layer from depletion and work out a mechanism to ensure an environmentally sustainable industrial growth.
Bahrain is joining the world for the 27th year running in celebrating the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer which is a commemoration of the date when 198 countries signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987.
The celebration provides the opportunity to recall local, regional and international procedures to get rid from depleting substances of the ozone layer gradually and reduce the greenhouse effect.
