Elections Executive Director announces final voter turnout

The final voter turnout rate topped %52.6 in the parliamentary elections as a total 183,936 voters cast their ballots, Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority President, High Elections Committee Executive Director Abdulla bin Hassan Al-Bouainain announced.

Meanwhile, the voter turnout rate in the municipal elections stood at %59.1, as 153,780 eligible voters cast their ballots. In a statement on 23 November 2014, he announced the final rates, based on the reports issued by heads of the four election supervisory committees.

He pointed out that male voters who cast their ballots topped 53.59%, while the rate of female voter turnout stood at %46.1. He revealed that 49,553 voters cast their ballots for the first time as they reached the legal age (20 years) to exercise their political rights — which represents %48.02 of the overall number of voters which stands at 349,713 for 2014 polls.
