A warm welcome to Garth & Zoya
We have two new people in the house; a front-end developer and our first Head of Project Operations. They both live in Norway for love; one for his Norwegian girlfriend and the other one for her love of the cold Northern summers.
Zoya Bhatnagar
Head of Project Operations
Zoya was born in Jaipur in India, and later moved to London where she got her MSc Economics from Imperial College.As a kid, the frequent summer visits to her aunt in Norway made her want to move there, an opportunity she grabbed as a nineteen-year-old through an internship at Equinor — Norway´s national oil company, and later as a management trainee at Aker Solutions.
We don’t know where Zoya gets all her energy from, but she does have a lot of experience as a strategy consultant in the energy industry. She’s an expert in creating smarter and more streamlined processes. That is one of the reasons we need her at BB. Always looking to make people reach their ambitions and make the most of their potential, Zoya will help us improve how we run our teams and projects.
As a vigorous extrovert, Zoya cannot wait for the post-pandemic roaring twenties to start. Touring Japan, going to the South Pole, and seeing a humpback whale in its natural habitat are items on her bucket-list, which we look forward to follow.
Garth Bjerk
Front-end Developer
Even though his name sounds very Nordic and he grew up eating lutefisk at his grandpa’s house for Christmas (celebrating his birthday on Christmas Eve), Garth is from Gilbert, Arizona.
After getting his Master’s in Computer Science at Cornell University and working for a startup in New York, he moved to Oslo to work for Telenor. Now — with his Norwegian girlfriend, he wants to stay, which we are thrilled about. With more than ten years of experience in building tech solutions, and previous tenures at notable companies like Telenor and Kolonial, he will be an outstanding addition to our team.
Waiting for his vaccine and for the pandemic to pass, Garth spends his free time playing computer games and baking sourdough bread. Pre-corona, his free time was spent trying to find the best Mexican food in Oslo. We can’t wait to collaborate on that last bit — hopefully getting together for some tacos in the near future.
