Are You Happy? Are You?
Happiness is an ephemeral elusive traitor.
As we wish everyone a Happy New Year, we can reflect on how fleeting the term happiness can be.
It lingers momentarily then envelopes itself, in an instant — without cause or judgments — leaving behind the hushed air of reality.
Sadness awaits Happiness’ departure.
Will Contentment move in before Sadness gets a head start? Sometimes maybe, but in my world, rarely.
Making each day count towards our goals, dreams, plans, and ambitions, we face obstacles unknown.
A setback awaits and thrillingly seeks to deter our wants and desires. Yet, we will persevere throughout another year, and reflect on how far we have come and how pushing forward has caused us to reap our rewards.
Happiness will stand for a moment, embracing our hearts for the dreams acquired goals completed ambitions achieved. Then, absently, will dissolve, leaving its memory as an afterthought.
Despite your losses and your gains, your joys, and your pains, or the rain on your head, the sun will soon shine on your face. You will smile in gratitude. Happiness will hug you again.
Happiness is such a traitor, isn’t it?
Grasp it with each chance you get. Hold it closely and as tightly as you can— for as long as it will allow.
Never turn down the opportunity to be in Happiness’ embrace, but share it with everyone you know and love.
