Boiling in anger after ending the WhatsApp phone call from a family member in Jamaica, Vicki couldn’t believe what she had just heard about David Junior, lovingly called DJ. The news tore her heart apart as she battled the tears while pacing inside her living room, demanding from life, “How could she not see inside her own heart? She is a mother, too. Couldn’t she feel that child’s pain? Lord, is it possible for a mother to can’t understand or feel the pain of another mother or a child!” She shouts, her eyes fixated towards the ceiling.
“Can women feel the pain of another woman’s child?” she demanded from life again, pacing around her living room in short strides, fighting anger, disappointment, and pain. “How come I can feel and understand a child’s pain, and I am not yet a mother, yet she, the mother of six and grandmother of two, can’t? Come on, Lord,” she demands in anger. “Answer me!”
Frustrated when there was no answer, rage dragged her out of her house as she snatched her car keys off the heart-shaped hand-crafted key hook on the wall to the left, beside the front door.
